Karl Tews Jr.
Mr. Karl Richard Tews, Jr., 82, of Kailua-Kona, and Redding, Calif. died Jan. 8, 2018, at his residence. Born on Nov. 28, 1935, in Hastings, Neb., he was a wholesaler for Budweiser. He was a member of the Lions Club and Elks Club.
Funeral services were held at McDonald’s Chapel in Redding, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Tews of Redding, Calif.; daughter, Lynn (Lance) Goble of Redding, Calif.; granddaughter, Savannah Goble of Redding, Calif.

Richard Denison
Richard Tennant Denison, 95, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 1, 2018, at his residence. Born in Honolulu on Jan. 16, 1923, he was a manager for First Hawaiian Bank, a real estate broker for Gold Coast Realty and a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a U.S. Air Force Reserves retiree. He was also a member of the Kona Rotary Club, Kona Masonic Lodge, Shriners International, past member of the Kai O Pua Canoe Club and the Salvation Army.
Celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. March 3 at Queen Emma Community Center (Christ Church Episcopal) 81-1004 Konawaena School Road in Kealakekua. Casual attire. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Kona P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI. 96745.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Ann) Denison of Kamuela, Scott (Nancy) Denison of Gainsville, Texas, and Patrick Denison of Arizona; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

Scott Littell
Scott Allen Littell, 58, of Ocean View, died Jan. 17, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 30, 1959 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he was a laborer.

Benedict Uyetake
Benedict T. “Benny” Uyetake, 97, of Hilo died Feb. 6, 2018, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired salesman with Hawaiian Housewares, Ltd., member of and long time volunteer at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a graduate of St. Louis School.
Friends may call 4-6 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call 8:30-10 a.m. on Feb. 22 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10:30 a.m. Mass, followed by burial at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.

Robert John Flood, 78, of Hilo, died Feb. 8, 2018. Born on Feb. 9, 1939, in Chicago, he served in the U.S. Navy and worked as an aviation and auto body mechanic.

Chris Anthony De Leon, 60, of Kealakekua, died Feb. 6, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 24, 1957, in Kealakekua, he was a return car agent for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, member of Kona Faith Center in Captain Cook, a former security officer for Kanaloa Kona and truck driver for Alakona Corporation.

Warden Waugh
Warden J. Waugh, 91, of Pahoa, died on Feb. 8, 2018, at home. Born Aug. 7, 1926, in Table Rock, W.V., he was a retired repairman for Mission Viejo Country Club in California and a U.S. Army veteran. He was also member of East Hawaii Church of Christ – Hilo.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Feb. 20 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Cremation to follow. A graveside Urn Committal Service will be held at noon on Feb. 21 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire is requested.

Tsurue “Tee” Higa, 100, of Hilo died Jan. 13, 2018, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Halaula, North Kohala, she was a retired sales person for the former Singer Sewing Company.

George Leslie
George Leslie, 82, of Kealakekua, died Jan. 30, 2018, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Honolulu on June 19, 1935, he was a maintenance worker for the Department of Transportation and Department of Health. He was also a laborer for HC&D.
Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 81-6403 Mamalahoa Highway. and Onouli Road, next to Konawaena Elementary School. Funeral service will start at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Saints Family Cemetery in Keei. The family requests casual attire.

Domingo “Cardo” R. Tomboc, 89, of Papaikou, died Jan. 27, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on June 8, 1928, in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines; he was a retired utility bulldozer operator for the former Mauna Kea Sugar Plantation Company and Mauna Kea and Mauna Kea Agribusiness Company.
Friends may call 8:30-9:50 a.m. Feb. 24 at The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Ave. for a 10 a.m. memorial service. Casual attire; no flowers.

Francisco “Rico” Ventura Cariaga, 92, of Hilo, died Jan. 20, 2018, at residence. Born on June 16, 1925, in Camiling Tarlac, Philippines; he worked for Ka’u Sugar Company and retired as a macadamia nut harvester at Mac Farms of Hawaii. He also a member of the Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association, American Association of Retired Persons and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Feb. 25 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, for a 7 p.m. wake service. Friends may call again 8-10 a.m. Feb. 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park to follow.
